Learning Outcome 5 and 6

Before entering English 110, I had used MLA formatting many times in high school so I was pretty familiar with it. However, I would forget the little details about the Works Cited pages like where certain commas or periods went. A helpful too was “The Little Seagull Handbook” which I used when I wanted to make sure I formatted the Works Cited page correctly.

I chose to use my “Art: Powerful in the Past, Present, and Future” as my Significant Writing Project.  In this essay, we were given many sources to work with that needed to be incorporated into our papers. I demonstrated my ability to integrate quotes and paraphrased sentences without the use of plagiarism due to my correct use of MLA in-text citations. To check to make sure these were correct I would use “The Little Seagull Handbook” again. I was also able to create Works Cited pages following along with MLA format in order to give credit to the authors who wrote the sources in my essay.

My sentence errors were not a big problem coming into English 110. However, I did gain a better understand in commas and apostrophes because of the videos we watched in class. I kind of understood where I should put those two punctuations but now I have an updated set of rules and notes to follow to prevent me from making little mistakes.
